i. Project Background
For the feature film Beatles, based on Lars Saabye Christensen’s beloved coming-of-age novel, I was tasked with creating the main title sequence — a chance to set the tone for the story before the first scene even began.

ii. Process
Drawing inspiration from the visual culture of the 1960s, I designed a sequence that evolves in step with the film’s themes. It opens with a clean, structured aesthetic echoing the early sixties, gradually shifting into a more vibrant, psychedelic mood as the titles progress — mirroring both the cultural upheaval of the decade and the personal transformations at the heart of the story.

The animation style was intentionally restrained — simple, graphic, and true to the era — letting the imagery and rhythm do the storytelling. Political moments, pop culture, and subtle nods to the Beatles themselves weave into the design, offering a snapshot of the world our characters are growing up in.

A tone-setter, a time capsule, and a visual nod to a decade of change — all set to a familar tune... don’t touch that dial!
