Typisk Norsk

Title sequence for Petter Skjerven’s beloved show about all things Norwegian

i. Project Background
Typisk Norsk was my first project after moving from England to Norway — a title sequence for NRK’s entertaining and informative series about language, quirks, and communication, hosted by Petter Schjerven. The show explored everything from linguistics to cultural clichés, so I took the opportunity to make a piece that was, in many ways, my own response to what I observed as being — for better or worse — (stereo)typically Norwegian.

ii. Process & Result
After years immersed in the polished intensity of the London design scene, I wanted to do something that deliberately stripped things back. No flashy plugins, no elaborate effects — just pure graphic composition using the simplest of tools: position, scale, rotation. A minimal, almost anti-design approach that relied on rhythm, structure, and wit rather than spectacle.

This project will always have a special place in my heart. Not just because it marked a time of personal change, but because it reminded me that simplicity — when done with purpose — can be both refreshing and distinctive.
